CNA HISTORY

Audiovisual artwork for Exhibition ‘Criação Cabo-verdiana: Percursos’, curated by Adélia Borges and Irlando Ferreira, Manuel Figueira Gallery, National Centre of Art, Crafts and Design, Mindelo – São Vicente, Cape Verde.

The National Center of Crafts - CNA emerge from the "Cooperativa Resistência" in 1976, shortly after Cape Verde's independence. In Room 1, the aforementioned audiovisual artwork contributes to telling this story of national affirmation through culture.

The piece is guided by the universe of documentary and visual archive of the CNAD collection. Departing from sequential shots of each historical landmark, with different times and spaces, it creates its connections through a subtle collage of settings and landscapes.

The importance of the recognizing each character in this story is achieved by the cutting of the figures and their overlapping by enlargement. This effect is enhanced by adding color outlines, creating not only the deserved emphasis but also the sense of depth in listening to the story.
